Add a New Case
1. Click on the HIV Partners Entry tile or New case in the HIV Partners Search tile.
2. Click on the Add a form icon.
3. Double click on COMMUNICABLE DISEASE-REGIONAL in the Owner key lookup screen. Select HIV PARTNERS ENTRY in the Associated forms lookup screen.
4. Enter all information regarding the index case, if known.
Some important fields include:
| HIV case number | Case number assigned by BCCDC HIV Surveillance System |
| Unknown | Click if the case number is unknown (e.g., if the case is from another province or country). PARIS will generate a unique case number starting with the prefix UNK-. |
| PARIS ID |
Click on the magnifying glass to search for the case in PARIS. The case’s PARIS ID, first name, and last name will be automatically populated from the person search. This is not required, but saves time entering client information and provides an epidemiological link. |
| Investigation start date | The date the clinician first became aware of partners for a case. Date is the same as the date in the “Date Reported” field in the Lab Reports section of the CD Assessment V2. |
| Viral Load At Diagnosis | The viral load entered should match the viral load entered in the Lab Reports section of the CD Assessment V2 at the time of diagnosis. |
| If yes, cluster # | Enter if cluster number is provided by the BC Centre for Excellence. They are emailed to the Medical Health Officer directly. |
5. Click on Save.
Edit a Case
1. Select the appropriate case from the Cases grid in the HIV Partners Search tile. For help searching for a specific case, please refer to the Search for HIV Case or Partners page for more details.
2. Double-click on the HIV case or click on Edit Case. It jumps to the HIV Entry tile.
3. The HIV Cases window opens and case details can be added or modified.
4. Click on Save to save your changes.
